How Gridiron Games football pools are impacted by postponed games due to positive coronavirus tests

In light of NFL games being affected by COVID-19, below are details on how Gridiron Games football pools will handle postponed games this season as a result of positive coronavirus tests. Because of the unpredictable nature of the virus and how far-reaching the impact can be, the outline below is subject to change.

Overall

If a game is played by Wednesday, it will remain part of the originally scheduled week and count towards pool results for that week.

If a game is postponed to a later week, it will be removed from the originally scheduled week and will not count towards pool results for any player (regardless of whether a pick has already been submitted).

NFL Pick’em Pools

If a game is postponed for later in the same week (likely Monday or Tuesday) the Tiebreaker 1 and Tiebreaker 2 scores will remain unchanged and continue to be based off the original games. This is due to the fact many players will have already submitted their picks by the time the game is postponed.

If a game is postponed to a later week, picks for that game will be removed and will not count towards pool results for any player that week.

For pools playing with confidence points, each player’s points will automatically be adjusted to account for the removed game(s). For example, during the 2020-2021 season when the PIT @ TEN game was postponed from Week 4 to Week 7, the game was removed from the Week 4 slate and confidence points were adjusted as follows:

If a player’s Tiebreaker 3 or Tiebreaker 4 pick is a team from a game that has been postponed to a later week, their pick will be removed and they will need to select another team for their Tiebreaker 3 or Tiebreaker 4.

If a game is postponed after a pool’s pick deadline has already passed, the player will need to reach out to their pool commissioner to have a late entry submitted for their new Tiebreaker 3 or Tiebreaker 4 pick.
